World Preview Of Ferretti 551 At Genoa Boat Show 2007
Restyling of the 550 model, which has enjoyed considerable success over the years, Ferretti 551 was developed through the consolidated working relationship between Studio Zuccon International Project and AYT - Ferretti Group Engineering Division. This new yacht stands out for her racy line, lighter than that of the previous model due to larger windows on the main deck, and features even better lit interiors and improved visibility at the helm. Indoors, the organisation of the various areas makes it possible to have three cabins on a 17.37 metre yacht.

Also the salon, that gives access to the cockpit via a wide sliding door topped by a hinged window, has been totally redesigned. A U-shaped sofa dominates the space, and there is a dining-table to the right, while on the left there is a sofa. A few steps lead down to the L-shaped galley, with two sinks and black marble worktops. Next to the wheelhouse which allows all the instruments to be located in a single panel to ensure better control when piloting the craft, a second dinette is located with a small table and a semicircular sofa, multiplying the conversation area.

The interiors offer highly luxurious finishes. Opaque light oak open-pore varnished for the furniture, while the floors of the galley and the heads were designed using weng.

As well as the traditional access from the cockpit, a small staircase from the saloon leads to the flybridge which has been designed with a U-shaped sofa around a low table. Here there is a spacious sunbathing area and all the comforts required for guests to share the owners favourite area: a fridge, sink with hob and, on request, also a chaise-longue alongside the controls.

Below decks there is the master cabin with a spacious double wardrobe and head. The two guest cabins have twin beds, and each has its own head. Special windows have been designed also for this craft, and the benefit can be seen in the natural light in the cabins. In order to optimise the use of space on board the Ferretti 551 by means of functional solutions, the head belonging to the cabin on the port side has been designed so that it is also the head that can be used from the day area, thanks to a double entrance which means it can be accessed from the cabin and also from the corridor.

For the crew, the Ferretti 551 standard layout provides a single cabin with a head which can be accessed directly from the galley without going through the saloon and disturbing the guests. In case it is needed, there is space in the stern for providing a second service cabin.

The large spoiler provides room for storing a 3.2 m tender or a jet ski.

The new Ferretti 551 is testimony to the care and attention that AYT - the FERRETTI YACHTS Engineering Division - dedicates to all the yachts in its fleet. On request, new and sophisticated technologies can be fitted to increase the owners comfort. These include NAVIOP, software that allows continuous monitoring, including via SMS, of alarm situations (windows, doors, video cameras and smoke detectors) and also yacht management (electrical system, pumps, tank levels, etc.). The ARG (Anti Rolling Gyro) system is the exclusive gyroscopic anti rolling system designed for the Ferretti Group by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, which cuts the movement caused by waves by over 50%.

Thanks to the new tank, even more capacious, the Ferretti 551 has 11 hours autonomy at a cruising speed of 30 knots. The maximum speed, provided by 2 900 HP Man engines, is 34 knots.
