Australia’s most awarded luxury boat manufacturer, Riviera, yesterday won yet another major prize, taking Modern Boating magazine’s “Cruiser Of The Year” title for the third year in succession – this time for its 4700 Sport Yacht.
According to Modern Boating Editor Ian Macrae the Riviera 4700SY won because: “it offers good value for money and demonstrated innovative thinking in design.”
Riviera won Modern Boating’s top accolade in 2005 for the 33 Flybridge, the first in that line to combine propeller pockets in the hull with underwater exhausts. These innovations served to improve performance and reduce noise and fumes. In 2006 Riviera won the top award for the company’s first Sport Yacht, the 3600.
This latest award follows the announcement last week that the Riviera 3600 SY won Best Motoryacht Under 40ft at the Christofle Asia Boating Awards 2007.
The Riviera 4700 Sport Yacht, launched at the Sydney International Boat Show in August last year, is a significant development of the company’s Sport Yacht line.
Riviera’s General Manager of New Product Development and Technology, Philip Candler, said the award was a strong endorsement of the company’s commitment to producing the best quality boats.
“We are delighted with this award,” he said. “It reflects on the entire Riviera team of 1,200 craftspeople who work so diligently to produce top quality boats for our markets around the world.
“The 4700 Sport Yacht builds on the very successful foundation laid with the 3600 Sport Yacht,” said Mr Candler. “The single-level concept, bringing the saloon and cockpit together in one al fresco living and entertaining area, is very popular with our owners.”
The Riviera 3600 Sport Yacht has already achieved sales of nearly 100 boats while the company has now sold 60 of the 4700 Sport Yacht.
