Paszkowski Design for Sanlorenzo 40 Alloy Onyx Awarded As Best Exterior Design in the Motoryacht Section

At the World Superyacht Awards 2009, the prestigious competition organized by Boat International Magazine, Francesco Paszkowski Design received the prize for the “Best Exterior Design in the motoryacht section” for the Sanlorenzo 40 Alloy Onyx.

The winners were announced on May 16th, during the glamorous evening, which took place at Guildhall, in the heart of the City of London.

Now in its fourth year, the World Superyacht Awards celebrates excellence in the design and building of superyachts, recognising the dedication and passion of owners and the talents of the builders, naval architects and designers who delivered the most outstanding yachts of 2008.

“A difficult prize to be awarded”, according to the judges’ comments, “ the clean, attractive lines that perfectly match the sporty aspirations of this fast and elegant three-decked yacht, together with her practical outside areas incorporating well engineered fold-down terraces and gull-wing doors that give the interior intimate contact with the sea certainly made Onyx stand out from the crowd”.

This is another important acknowledgement Francesco Paszkowski Design joins to many others awards he received during almost a twenty-year activity which made him one of the leading yacht designers on the international scene.

The prize for “Best Semi-Displacement or Planing Motor Yacht In 30m to 39m size range” was awarded to 40 Alloy “Onyx”, the planing yacht built by Sanlorenzo shipyard and designed by Francesco Paszkowski Design.

“Facilities and functionality for purpose, combined with excellence in design were key considerations. And the yacht that caught the judges eye in these respects was Onyx. Her stylish lines and well engineered balconies and doors were much admired, along with the practical layout of both her interior and exterior spaces for both the owner and his crew”.

When Massimo Perotti, Sanlorenzo’s President, asked me to design a 40-meter fast yacht – commented Francesco Paszkowski – I was thrilled about this task. Today I’m very happy. We carried out the project in close cooperation with the Sanlorenzo shipyard, focusing on the owner’s needs. The results achieved confirm that the right decisions were taken from the very beginning from the moment Sanlorenzo trusted me to all different steps of the yacht construction thanks to the great shipyard ability”.
